NSW public schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics, delivered by approved providers wherever available.
During enrolment, you can choose a special religious education option for your child from the school’s available approved providers. You can withdraw your child from special religious education by selecting alternative meaningful activities, or special education in ethics if it’s available.
You can update your preference by writing to the school or through the online form available at participating schools.
Visit the department’s website for more information about religion and ethics.
At Uralla Central School in 2024, SRE will be delivered once a fortnight on Wednesday (usually even weeks of term) from 11:25am to 12:10pm. SRE will be provided for Anglican K-6 students, and Catholic K-6 students.
On enrolment parents/carers will be given the SRE participation letter to complete and return. After the initial enrolment, notification of changes to a child's enrolment in SRE should be given to the office, in writing.
The following SRE classes are offered at Uralla Central School:
Catholic SRE is provided by Catholic Diocese of Armidale. More information about Catholic SRE, including the authorised curriculum scope and sequence, please visit the Catholic Diocese of Armidale website www.armidale.catholic.org.au/confraternity-of-christian-doctrine and the curriculum website https://ccd.sydneycatholic.org/publications/curriculum-overview/
Anglican SRE is provided by Anglican Diocese of Armidale. More information about Anglican SRE, including the authorised curriculum scope and sequence, please visit the Anglican Diocese of Armidale website http://www.armidaleanglicandiocese.com/things-we-do/special-religious-education/ or www.godspace.org.au.
SEE is provided by Primary Ethics. SEE classes do not take place at Uralla Central School. For more information about SEE, including the authorised curriculum scope and sequence, please visit the Primary Ethics website https://primaryethics.com.au.
Given the small numbers of students that participate in SRE, during the time that SRE classes are being held, students not participating will remain in their classrooms with their class teachers and will participate in meaningful activities – such as reading, private study, revision or completing homework.
Students participating in SRE will leave their normal classes and be located in a separate space and be supervised by representatives of the respective authorised provider.
